On our first full day in the city of Prague, our history group visited the Museum of Communism. The Museum was incredibly informative and sparked conversation among group members. We discussed how growing up in the United States, we were all taught to despise the idea of communism and all of its values and the impacts that came along with Communist reign. But going through the Museum we found a lot of propaganda promoting the ideology that the U.S. is wrong for practicing capitalism and democracy. The communist-era political cartoons pictured below depict the horrors of capitalism and the corruption that resulted from it. The parallels of these two ways of life and how values and opinions can be persuaded by the government was one of the biggest takeaways of this Museum experience.

Klement Gottwald, the first communist president is holding a paper. The headlines say: Forever with the Soviet Union. J.V. Stalin is standing to the right.

Safety under communism.

In the spirit of the Marxist ideology, the Communists emphasized material values of the life of the society.
